Sales Director
The Opportunity:
Burlington Beer Co. (BBCO) is seeking a motivated, passionate, and experienced Sales Director to join our team. As Sales Director, you will drive sales growth in current markets by strengthening our sales force, managing distributors, and refining our chain sales strategy. In addition to launching new markets, the Sales Director will set sales goals, develop a strategic plan, budget, and expand BBCO's brand recognition.
To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate must be an experienced sales team leader with a proven track record of growing brands, expanding into new territories, developing team members, and devising sales strategies to drive growth across all markets.
What you’ll be doing:
- Plan, budget, and execute all sales initiatives.
- Develop launch strategies for new markets.
- Develop sales goals & plans by market.
- Create plans for distribution expansion.
- Develop annual business plans (ABPs) with chain buyers and multiple distributors.
- Build sales goals for individual sales team members.
- Provide direction to the sales team to successfully execute brand goals and initiatives. Coach and motivate sales team members to enhance their effectiveness in the market.
- Regularly monitor and analyze brand health, as well as weekly, monthly, and annual sales via VIP, to identify opportunities.
- Develop volume forecasts and communicate with chain buyers, distributors, and BBCO production to facilitate continuity of supply.
- Review the market position of competing products and evaluate their marketing & sales techniques; optimize plans accordingly.
- Establish, build, and foster strong distributor account relationships & meet regularly to review results and align on priorities.
- Develop proposals and programs for current and prospective customers to secure new distribution channels and drive sales growth.
- Build relationships with local, regional, and national buyers, as well as national chain accounts, to support execution.
- Represent BBCO at industry events and act as a Brand Ambassador to promote the brand, business, and products.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful in this role:
- Expert knowledge of supplier and distributor sales in Craft Beer.
- Specialist knowledge of the brewing industry & operations.
- Ability to develop a robust sales strategy by analyzing large quantities of sales data from a variety of sources.
- Ability to work effectively with wholesale and retail management at various levels.
- Ability to lead and motivate team members with exceptional leadership skills.
- Motivated by a dynamic, ever-changing environment and able to excel.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team to accomplish goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to multitask.
- A strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to speak in front of groups of people, conduct training programs, and promote products or services.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient knowledge of Google Suite and strong computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license with active auto insurance, safe driving record, and reliable vehicle.
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years craft beer sales experience selling to distributors, retailers, and consumers, preferably with three or more years of managing a sales team.
- 3+ years experience calling on national/regional chain accounts.
- Experience building and utilizing VIP
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to travel regionally up to 15% of the time as needed; occasional national travel.
- Able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
