Packaging Operator, MPAC

Position Summary

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving key packaging line equipment, with primary focus on the cartoner and tray packer. This role also supports operation of auxiliary machines such as detection scanners, date coders, and the poly-pro applicator. The Packaging Operator plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent packaging operations while contributing to maintenance schedules, SOP development, and ongoing process improvements.


Packaging Operator Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor primary packaging equipment: tray packer and cartoner.
  • Operate additional packaging machines, including detection scanners, date coders, and poly-pro applicators.
  • Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
  • Perform daily inspections and scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance, downtime, and service activity.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and leadership teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues quickly.
  • Support development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety and GMP protocols.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new team members on equipment use and safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the broader production and packaging team.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or relevant certifications a plus.
  • 1+ year experience operating equipment in a manufacturing, food/beverage, or CPG environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues.
  • Experience working with packaging lines or machinery such as cartoners, tray packers, or labelers preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, read equipment manuals, and maintain documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and focus on quality and safety.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods.


Schedule Expectations

  • Two shift options:
  • First Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Second Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends or additional hours based on production demands.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
