Director of Brewing Operations

Big Country is Texas’s only craft brewery dedicated to producing certified organic beer and hard seltzer. We have experienced tremendous growth since our launch and are looking for an exceptional Director of Brewing Operations to help propel us to the next level.


In this role you will be a…

·    Hands-on, positive, knowledgeable, and capable leader to the brew team.

·    QC and sensory champion, developing new tools and direct staff training and buy-in.

·    Master of all phases of production, implementing actionable plans to enhance quality and increase brewhouse efficiency.


Your responsibilities will be to…

·    Oversee production of all Big Country products.

·    Drive current recipe optimization and new recipe development.

·    Create weekly, monthly, and long-term production plans, effectively supporting the business and sales objectives as presented by executive team.

·    Ensure all distributor orders are delivered on-time and in-full.

·    Effectively utilize Beer30 for all production and inventory record keeping and reporting.

·    With the guidance of the executive team, create a budget for all beverage production.

·    Support development of RFQ/RFPs for ingredients and equipment, including evaluation, bidding, and execution of vendor partnerships.  


To be considered, you will have…

·    10+ years of professional experience in beer production/manufacturing in a facility producing 7,500+ bbls annually.

·    5+ years’ experience as Director of Brewing Operations, Brewmaster, or Head Brewer.

·    Extensive understanding of the brewing process, sanitation, yeast health and fermentation and beer transfer and clarification

·    Experience scaling brewing operations.

·    Familiarity and ability to use Beer30 (or past use of other brewing ERP system).

·    Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

·    Capacity to participate in and lead multi-department teams to define issues, develop processes and strategies, and achieve desired outcomes.

·    Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.


You must also…

·    Be able to bend over, twist, kneel, stand for the duration of a shift and lift 55 pounds.

·    Properly handle hazardous materials and operate complex machinery.

·    Hold current TABC Seller/Server Certification (or complete within 30 days of employment).

·    Be 21 years or older.

·    Have a valid driver’s license and a dependable personal vehicle.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 3-5 direct reports


Job Type: Full-time


Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday. Some evenings and weekends required.  


Location: Pflugerville, TX. In-person, not eligible for remote work.


Salary: Negotiable based on experience + annual performance bonus
