Cellar Person
7 Devils Brewing Co.
Apply for this Job

The 7 Devils Brewing Company is looking for a new cellar person in Coos Bay, OR! As our cellar person you will work directly alongside our head brewer with numerous brewing and cellar responsibilities.
This position will involve cellar work (assisting with brewing and monitoring fermentations), cleaning and sanitization of kegs, tanks and other equipment, filling kegs, bottling/canning, occasionally assisting with beer deliveries and dock sales, occasional pouring events, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, and other tasks as assigned.
We operate a 15-barrel brewery producing about 1000 barrels per year. We are self-distributed and also sell beer through our pub and restaurant. We are a creative, socially and environmentally ethical company looking for like-minded people to join our team.
We are a small team of 3-4 people, so you will be working closely with your coworkers. Good communication, a can-do mentality and a positive attitude are very important. Our ultimate goal is to make the best beer around and always be improving our craft. We have a lot of different responsibilities as brewers and have to wear a lot of different hats to keep the operation running. An ideal brewer is someone who thinks quickly on their feet, solves problems logically and safely, is self-motivated, and thrives under pressure.
We are ideally looking for someone who already has experience in the brewing industry (or a relevant industry such as wine or spirits), or someone new to the industry who is passionate about craft beer and is serious about pursuing brewing as a career.
Our business has very consistent busy and slow seasons, and the brewery’s workload reflects that. Expect shorter days and fewer hours during the winter months (25-30 hours/week) and longer, busier days during the spring, summer, and fall (35-40+ hours/week).
Main Responsibilities:
- Packaging beer. Kegging, canning, bottling, and barrel-filling.
- Cleaning of tanks and cleaning of brewery equipment.
- End-of-brew cleanup. Scoop the mash tun, clean the mash tun, monitor knock-out, and clean all the brew equipment at the end of each brew day.
- Keg cleaning and tap cleaning.
- Delivering beer. While this is the primary role of the sales/distribution person, the assistant brewer may be asked to fill in this role as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Prior work experience in craft beer (or craft alcohol, i.e. wine) production is preferred, but applicants must at a minimum show a passion for brewing and/or other craft beverage production.
- We are looking for positive, open-minded people with excellent communication skills.
- Cellar Person must be self-motivated and capable of managing his/her time without strict oversight.
- Punctuality and efficient time management is essential.
- Must have good observational skills/be able to catch mistakes.
- Applicants must be physically capable (lifting 50lbs or more) and willing to work 10+ hour days, as well as work in the rain and cold.
- Applicants must be comfortable with a flexible schedule. Our busy seasons often demand long days and short weekends, while our slow seasons allow for more time off with shorter hours.
- Strong forklift skills. Experience with machinery/general handiness is a plus.
- No criminal record or DUIs.
- OLCC certified. We will assist with this if needed.
Employee Perks/Benefits:
- Paid vacation/sick leave
- Free gym membership
- Weekly meal stipend to be used at our original brewery/public house (50% off food/beverages after the stipend has been used)
- 25% off at the 7 Devils Waterfront Alehouse
- 25% off kegs and cans
- 401k with 4% company match after 6 months of employment
