The Sr. Packaging Operator at Hi-Wire Brewing assists with ensuring the completion of the day to day functions of the packaging line. The ideal candidate will hold responsibilities related to the operation of a variety of packaging equipment and the upkeep of packaging areas. This is a permanent full-time position. In order to help ensure all aspects of this position are performed as expected, measurable metrics will be provided along with regularly scheduled performance reviews. This position reports to the Packaging Manager. Prior experience with a Wild Goose Canning Machine or DMM Cartoning Machine is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure completion of the daily production schedule in coordination with the Packaging/Production Manager
- Ensure reconciliation of packaging and scrap numbers in our computer system in a timely fashion
- Lead changeover activities on filler, cartoner, and other machines when switching between activities/formats
- Serve as a point person for the packaging line and its corresponding machines, assisting with performance improvements, troubleshooting, and giving instruction where/when needed
- Alert Packaging/Production Manager to potential quality concerns and maintenance issues
- Assist with routine material handling/transfer/order needs as they arise on the packaging line
- Learn, understand, execute, and help maintain packaging operations according to Hi-Wire’s SOPs
- Work closely with Packaging Manager, Production Manager, and Head Brewer
- Operate machinery following all safety guidelines in an efficient manner
- Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to brewery standards
- Help out as needed in other parts of the brewery
- Perform all preventative and routine maintenance on machinery to ensure it is functioning safely, properly, and efficiently
- Maintain packaging tools and materials by storing safely, neatly and in an organized fashion
- Direct, operate, and perform pre-run, run, post-run, and weekly duties and housekeeping on a variety of packaging equipment
- Oversee and assist in the cleaning of canning/kegging lines
- Assist other packaging staff as needed to give breaks and fill in at other stations
- Assist in shipping and receiving as needed, including consolidating distributor orders, managing inventory, and making corresponding Ekos entries
- Maintain neat and orderly packaging areas, including the canning line, kegging area, and all other surrounding work areas
- Adhere to all Hi-Wire Brewing policies, processes and standards in order to maintain a safe and welcoming work environment for self, co-workers, vendors, and guests
- Be able to step into management role in absence of Packaging/Production Manager
- Provide feedback and suggestions to management team in an effort to reduce waste and improve efficiencies
- Complete other tasks accurately as assigned by management within specified time frames

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Experience with Wild Goose Canning Machine or DMM Cartoning Machine highly preferred
- Working knowledge of the typical components/machines in a packaging line, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, when needed.

- Previous experience maintaining packaging equipment and related machinery is essential
- A flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends
- Strong overall understanding of safety procedures, regulations and requirements, including forklift operation
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to continually lift 65 pounds
- Must have the ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, work from heights, stoop, kneel and crouch
- The ability to work near moving parts and machinery
- The ability to work in loud, wet, cold, hot, indoor and outdoor environments frequently
