We are looking for an experienced brewer who is dedicated to quality, takes pride in the details and capable of creating a positive culture of learning and respect for our exceptional staff.
The position of Head Brewer at Batson River Brewing will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our brewing program. This position possesses varied and comprehensive responsibilities that cover every aspect of a brewing program including production, safety, managing personnel, and administration. The Head Brewer must be able to effectively manage day to day operations while simultaneously anticipate and implement planning for the future.
Production:
· Responsible for oversight of all day to day operations
· Beer development
- Crafting new beers based on quality, creativity and marketability
- Crafting tap lines for our restaurants which highlight the very best quality and diversity of what we can create
- Crafting retail offerings by accounting for consumer demand and our desire to highlight beers that will define who we are
· Canning and bottling line oversight
· Quality Control
- Ensuring each bottle, can and keg is up to the highest standard through comprehensive brewing procedures, lab testing and personal inspection
Safety
· Responsible for ensuring safety of employees
- Responsible for creating and implementing safe operating procedures for all equipment
- Responsible for equipment safety and maintenance
- Setting up periodic equipment checks and maintenance as necessary
· Responsible for training of all personnel for safe and efficient handling of all equipment and machinery
- Responsible for creating and enforcing safety protocols
Managing Personnel
· Responsible for staff training for all aspects of brewing from production quality to safety
· Responsible for working with personnel to maximize staff efficiency, potential and positivity
· Responsible for continued oversight of personnel, disciplinary measures when necessary and creation of a safe, positive, creative work environment
· Responsible for periodic evaluation of personnel and communicating said evaluation clearly and in a constructive manner
· Communication
- Responsible for ensuring clear lines of communication with Brew Staff
- Responsible for ensuring clear lines of communication with FOH Staff
- Responsible for ensuring clear lines of communication with management
Administration
· Budgeting
- Responsible for helping create and maintain brewing budget for the year
· Record Keeping
- Responsible for accurate and up to date record keeping of production, finances and incident reports
· Legal Reporting
- Responsible for tax reporting
· Inventory management
- Responsible for implementing accurate and up to date inventory tracking system
· Delivery scheduling
- Work with distribution personnel to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
Marketing
· Research Craft Beer Industry trends to help project future production and sales
· Assist with the creation of production and sales projections for the Brewing Program to most efficiently plan for the future
· Work with sales and marketing teams to create comprehensive craft beer strategies
