The Position
As the Warehouse & Packaging Assistant (Second Shift) you will ensure that beer, raw materials, and supplies move safely and efficiently through our facilities, while staging and preparing the facility for operations the next day.
This position runs from 12 pm to 8 pm, and will involve significant time operating in the facility without direct supervision. The ability to work independently is a must.
Roughly half of your time is spent on warehouse logistics—with a strong emphasis on safe forklift operation, inbound/outbound shipments, inventory accuracy, and facility organization. The other half is spent on preparing the facility for successful operations the next day - prepping, cleaning, organizing, assembling, as well as completing brewery specific tasks like ingredient pulling and sorting. Further, assisting with packaging runs, receiving material from deliveries, dealing with trash and recycling, and generally taking charge of the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
Success in this role requires discipline, attention to detail, and the initiative to improve processes while upholding Lamplighter’s safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Forklift & Material Handling
- Safely operate electric forklifts; perform daily checks and manage battery charging.
- Stage, wrap, label, and relocate finished beer and raw materials between production, cold storage, and delivery vehicles.
Next-Day Operation Preparation
- Prepare the brewery for operations the next day, staging material, supplies and equipment for efficient and effective resumption of production operations the following morning.
- Building and assembling outgoing beer delivery pallets, pulling kegs for taproom stocking, driving beer from one facility to another in the brewery van, milling in malt, weighing and preparing hops, staging canning supplies.
Shipping & Receiving
- Schedule and receive inbound deliveries; reconcile BOLs, packing slips, and invoices.
- Enter receipts and inventory moves into brewery software in real time.
- Prepare accurate outbound pallets, create manifests, and facilitate carrier pickups.
Warehouse/ Facility Organization & Inventory Control
- Implement FIFO rotation and maintain an organized warehouse and cold-box.
- Consolidate and rack pallets to maximize cold-box capacity while preserving safe aisles.
- Conduct weekly physical counts; investigate and reconcile variances with management.
Packaging Line Support
- Assist with setup, operation, and cleanup of canning, bottling, and kegging runs.
Facility & Waste Management
- Coordinate trash, recycling, and spent-grain pickups; keep loading areas clean and hazard-free.
- Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to OSHA, FDA, and Lamplighter SOPs; keep detailed logs for equipment inspections, sanitation, and cold-storage temperatures.
- Identify hazards and propose corrective actions to management.
Requirements
- Forklift: Valid certification and previous experience is a must, along with commitment to safe operation and battery upkeep. This position requires lots of time on a forklift.
- Experience: 2+ year in warehousing, logistics, or manufacturing; beverage or cold-storage experience preferred.
- Computer literacy: comfortable navigating basic software tools (inventory systems, email, spreadsheets, etc.)..
- Physical: Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and remain on your feet for 8-hour shifts in variable temperatures.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, time management, and a demonstrated ability to work independently, and maintain a spotless and organized workspace.
- License: Valid driver’s license; ability to make local deliveries in rare circumstances.
Preferred Skills
- Previous brewery or beverage-packing experience.
- Software: Comfort with inventory or ERP platforms (Ekos Brewmaster)
- Familiarity with OSHA, FDA, and TTB regulations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for packaging-line troubleshooting.
- A strong sense of organization and cleanliness, ability to operate independently from a checklist, and a sense of ownership for the facility, space, and task at hand.
Starting Wage
$24 per hour

Job Status
FLSA Non-Exempt, Full-Time (40 hrs/week, primarily Monday–Friday 12 PM -8 PM, occasional weekends)
Working Conditions
This on-site role is based at our Cambridge production facility and warehouse. Work is physically demanding and performed in wet, cold, and loud environments. Candidates must be comfortable working both independently and in close coordination with production and sales teams.
