OFFICIAL JOB DESCRIPTION::
Overview
The Can Line Operator is responsible for assisting with the entire packaging process, ensuring quality of product is being maintained, standard operating procedures are being followed accurately, and safety remains a top priority.
Responsibilities
- Operates the craft can filler and seamer during canning runs
- Participates in all packaging operations including CIP, filler operation, quality checks, palletizing, and movement of finished materials
- Adheres to and improves SOP’s of daily packaging activities including filling, seaming, checking, weighing, and offloading canned beverages
- Documents key quality performance measurements, verifying all packaged products meet required specifications
- Independently troubleshoots all packaging equipment and communicates issues with solutions to leadership appropriately
- Ensures production and packaging areas are kept clean at all times
- Trains other Brewery employees on proper packaging equipment/machinery operation and safety protocols
- Plans, prepares, and executes packaging with Director of Production and Head Brewer
- Works closely with Production Team to coordinate maintenance and project work in a manner that minimizes production downtime
- Communicates effectively regarding the status of jobs and ensures that equipment is turned over to operations fit for production
- Executes all manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance on all packaging machinery
- Performs all other duties as assigned by management
Skills and Experience
- Experience on Wild Goose and similar in-line canning lines a plus.
- Experience involving utility systems with a strong knowledge of air compressors, chillers, boilers, water systems, building automation systems, and wastewater systems
- Ability to work independently and follow complex instructions to a high level of precision
- Ability to work independently and effectively with peers and display strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Impeccable attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge of industry compliance and safety standard
- Ability to perform all tasks according to standard operating procedures
Requirements
- All skills and experience as outlined above
- Ability to work in a production environment with loud noise, strong odors, wet surfaces, hot and cold temperatures, and constant movement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high-pressure deadlines, time constraints, and distractions
- Ability to work schedule as assigned by management to include early mornings, evenings and weekends
- Ability to manipulate valves and clamps
- Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, stoop, and climb ladders
- Ability to lift 60 pounds without assistance
- Ability to push, pull, move objects up to 160 pounds
- Following of all company health and safety standards to include proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with all OSHA and CDC guidelines
- Personal access to/ownership of applicable tools
- Personal, reliable transportation
Compensation and Benefits
- Full-Time, Hourly
- $21 per hour
- $0.50 - $1.00 bi-annual increases (per every 960 hours worked) based on merit
- $26 per hour cap
- Paid Time Off Program
- 1 to 4 weeks annually based on seniority
