Head Brewer

Pure Madness Group, the largest brewery group in Wyoming, is seeking a Head Brewer for its Roadhouse Brewing Company operation located in Jackson, WY.

Position Mission: Successfully guide the growth of Roadhouse Brewing Company through effective and consistent leadership. Use a continuous improvement approach to brewing and leadership at the Roadhouse production facility and Roadhouse Pub and Eatery while maintaining a keen focus on profitability-driving initiatives and innovative practices and techniques for the organization. 

Overview: This position is critical to the success of Roadhouse Brewing Brewing Company. As Head Brewer, you are responsible for leading the Roadhouse Brewing team with effective, high-level communication across organizational channels. This includes scheduling for success, managing COGS ordering, recipe development and brewing execution, including test batches on the pilot system. This position will work closely with the Brewmaster, Brewery Manager, and Quality Assurance Manager. This position should exhibit and support a high-performance work ethic and maintain a culture of accountability and transparency in leadership. 

Key Results: 

Brewery Management: 

a. Lead and manage the Roadhouse Brewing team and processes. 

b. Supervise brewing production from start to finish and create and manage operations schedules alongside brewery manager. 

c. Stay within budget spend in $ / BBL for products produced and for expenses spent. 

d. Work closely with raw material suppliers on forecasting and utilization schedules. 

e. Continually focus on brewing process improvements and beer quality improvements. 

f. Manage any equipment, staffing or operational issues that arise. 

Staff Management: 

a. Lead a brewing staff capable of meeting / exceeding goals in Jackson. 

b. Model staffing needs as output increases. 

c. Manage inventory turnover for as close to JIT manufacturing as is reasonable. 

d. Forecast COGS needs (grain, hops, printed cans, glass, etc.) to be approved by Brewmaster. 

e. Forecast labor and schedule team according to production need, including PM

days and equipment maintenance. 

Brewing Operations: 

a. Organize brew schedules against sales demands with PARs held in tanks. 

b. Lead the brew team with continuous improvement and efficiency in mind. 

d. Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the highest quality product and to mitigate any product quality issues that arise in the brewery or in the market. 

e. Keep the Roadhouse Pub and Eatery beer list full at all times.

Administrative: 

a. Weekly update reports submitted by EOD each Monday to Brewmaster. 

b. Monthly brewing and safety meetings held or attended. 

Culture: 

a. Support a culture of trust, respect and openness.

b. Work with the leadership team to make Roadhouse Brewing / Pure Madness an employer of choice.

Core Requirements:

1. Brewing Experience:
2. Minimum of 5 years of professional brewing experience in a production brewery setting.
3. Proven track record of consistent, high-quality beer production.
4. In-depth understanding of the entire brewing process, from raw material handling to finished product.
5. Physical Requirements:
6. Ability to lift and move 55+ pounds repeatedly.
7. Ability to stand for extended periods.
8. Ability to bend, stoop, and climb.
9. Technical Skills:
10. Knowledge of brewing equipment operation and maintenance.
11. Proficiency in cleaning and sanitizing brewing equipment.
12. Understanding of yeast handling and fermentation management.
13. Ability to perform quality control checks and maintain accurate records.
14. Knowledge of CIP procedures.
15. Education/Certifications:
16. Formal brewing education or certification (e.g., Siebel Institute, Institute of Brewing and Distilling) a plus.
17. Food safety certifications a plus.

Location: 

Jackson Hole, Wyoming. 

Compensation: 

Compensation is salary based with quarterly bonuses. Benefits include health insurance coverage, Paid Time Off, ESOP eligibility, affiliate discount programs, ski pass, and free beer. Relocation expenses are negotiable.
