Temescal Brewing is looking for an Assistant Brewer/Cellarperson to join our small production team. We produce roughly 2,000 barrels per year, and our brew team is incredibly hands-on, managing an entirely analog production cycle from grain to keg. In this role, you will assist the lead brewer with brewing, cellaring, and packaging. The role is responsible for producing a variety of beer styles, championing quality standards, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Our ideal candidate has 1-2 years minimum of experience working in a commercial brewery or brewpub environment.
Established in 2016, Temescal Brewing has championed a balanced approach to craft beer with a strong focus on inclusivity and supporting our community. We are a small team that’s proudly based in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. All employees are based at our Telegraph Avenue location.
ASSISTANT BREWER
- Assist with all aspects of wort production from mash-in to knock-out
- CIP brewhouse and all related equipment
- Provide regular maintenance of all brewhouse and mill equipment
- Organize malt orders, prep for daily malt needs, and operate mill during grain-in
- Operate the boiler, fill liquor tanks, and treat water as needed
- Ensuring tanks have been cleaned and sanitized before knock out
- Consistently communicate with lead brewer and assist as needed
- Maintain sanitary working conditions and equipment at all times
CELLAR WORK
- Perform cleaning, sanitation, and purging FVs and brites
- Dry-hop, fruit, and other dosing throughout various stages of cellaring
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, parts, floors, drains, and tank exteriors
- Monitor the quality of the product throughout fermentation and conditioning
- Clean, maintain, and organize cooperage
- Assist with all packaging: keg filling, canning, and
- Organize cans and kegs in the walk-in on production days
- Communicate frequently with teammates
- Identify and quickly communicate any problems or malfunctions
- Take inventory on raw materials and supplies
- Assist with other brewery projects as needed

- Pay scale is $21-26 per Hour Depending on Experience

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a production environment with loud noise, strong odors, slippery surfaces, and both hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant movement
- Ability to work as scheduled by management which may include early mornings or weekends.
- Ability to sit, stand and/or or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, stoop, climb ladders, and navigate tight spaces
- Ability to lift 60 pounds without assistance
- Ability to pull, pull or maneuver kegs (160 lbs)
- Ability to follow all company health and safety standards, including proper use of PPE and compliance with both OSHA and CDC guidelines
- Valid drivers license and clearn driving record
- 21+ Years of Age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
