Job Overview
The West Highlands Hospitality Manager oversees taproom operations during assigned shifts, with a focus on managing high-volume service and ensuring seamless integration of food service. This role ensures quality control, exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and a positive work environment. The Hospitality Manager works with various departments to streamline operations, manage event logistics, and contribute to continuous improvement, while aligning local operations with company objectives in collaboration with the General Manager.
Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
- Manage taproom staff during high-volume shifts, ensuring exceptional customer service, and smooth operations.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment, maintaining high morale during busy periods.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to staff, focusing on customer service and high-volume tasks.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to ensure alignment of taproom operations with broader company goals.
- Provide GM with updates on shift operations, staff performance, and customer feedback.
- Maintain detailed records on quality control, safety activities, and compliance.
- Document team feedback, performance, and issues during high-volume shifts.
Customer Service and Hospitality:
- Ensure a welcoming experience for all visitors, especially during peak hours.
- Train staff on customer interaction, multitasking, and efficient order management.
- Address customer feedback and complaints professionally.
- Stay informed about industry trends in hospitality, foodservice, and current beer styles and profiles.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the taproom and common areas.
- Implement and monitor cleaning schedules in compliance with food safety and sanitation procedures.
Operational Excellence (i.e., Quality Control, Safety, Compliance and Inventory Management):
- Ensure all products (beer and food) meet the brewery’s quality standards, especially during peak times.
- Conduct quality checks and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to align food quality and service timelines with taproom operations.
- Enforce safety protocols and compliance with health, food safety, and alcohol regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards.
- Ensure staff is trained in liquor laws, ID checking, and preventing over-serving; maintain TIPS certification and food safety standards.
- Monitor inventory levels of draft & packaged beer, food items, and smallwares, adjusting for high-traffic periods.
- Maintain accurate records for inventory and manage both beverage and food supplies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in high-volume service and food operations, and work with both taproom and food service staff to implement.
Event Management:
- Work with the Community and Events Manager to schedule and plan taproom events.
- Execute brewery events, tastings, special promotions, and food-related events.
- Ensure smooth event operations and collaborate with vendors to meet guest expectations.
- In collaboration with the food vendor, align food offerings with customer demand during events.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-volume hospitality and food service environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Experience managing high-volume service environments, particularly involving food and beverage operations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of taproom operations, quality control, customer service, and food safety regulations.
- Proficient in Toast, inventory management software and exposure to food service systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and events.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Good sensory skills (sight, smell, taste) for quality control and food safety compliance.
Compensation
- $18.00/hour plus tips
- $21.00/hour for non-tipped administrative and logistic duties
