Position Summary:


The Brewer III will play a key role in all aspects of the brewing process, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across production. This position requires a high level of brewing knowledge, problem-solving skills, and leadership experience to support the brewing team in executing Yards’ diverse beer portfolio.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player with the ability to contribute to recipe development, troubleshoot brewing challenges, and help drive innovation in new products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Brewing Operations

• Support the execution of the daily brewing schedule. This may include brewing on our state-of-the-art, fully automated, 100 Bbl. Ziemann brewhouse, cellar work, CIP, functions, filtration, etc.

Recipe Development & Innovation

• Assist in R&D pilot brewing to test innovative concepts before full-scale production.

Leadership & Team Support

• Serve as a mentor and leader for junior brewers, providing guidance, training, and support.

• Work closely with the production team to troubleshoot brewing issues and improve efficiency.

• Lead by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative, and safety-first work environment.

Equipment Maintenance & Brewery Operations

• Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of brewing equipment.

• Identify and communicate equipment issues or process inefficiencies to improve productivity.

• Work alongside the maintenance team to troubleshoot mechanical issues and minimize downtime.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation protocols.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional brewing experience in a production brewery

• Formal brewing education preferred (e.g., Siebel Institute, UC Davis, American Brewers Guild, Heriot-Watt)

• Strong knowledge of brewing science, raw materials, yeast management, and quality control processes.

• Must have experience with automated brewing processes

• Experience with brewing software, data tracking, and production planning tools.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a collaborative and problem-solving mindset.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.

• Ability to lift 55+ lbs repeatedly and work on your feet for long periods.

• Full-time position with a rotating shift schedule, including early mornings, evenings, overnights and weekends as needed.
