Torch Distribution is a craft-focused independent wholesaler based in New York City. Our distribution business was founded in 2018 as the self-distribution arm of Torch & Crown Brewing Company, Manhattan’s Brewery. We now proudly distribute a portfolio of some of the best craft brands from the US and abroad across NYC and Long Island.

Our field sales team is a foundational growth driver for sales and distribution of Torch & Crown’s brands and our full distribution portfolio within all assigned territories. We see Manhattan and the five boroughs as a massive opportunity for a homegrown brand here in New York City, and our field sales team is the backbone of that growth. We are genuinely trying to do it differently, from our account support and focus on education, to our beer quality and customer service. 

Torch Distribution Field Sales Managers are responsible for representing & managing Torch Distribution’s wholesale market presence, brand awareness, product representation and sales at on and off-premise retail accounts, and at festivals and events throughout your assigned distribution territory. 

The core responsibilities of our Field Sales Managers are to maintain and grow existing key retailers (both on and off premise) and develop new accounts within their assigned territory. The Field Sales Manager will spend approximately 90% of their time in retail execution and field support, with additional event management responsibilities and reporting/admin duties in a lesser capacity. The Field Sales Manager reports directly to the Sales Director.


Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Accomplish sales goals in accordance with our annual sales planning process
  • Manage weekly/monthly/quarterly sales planning process. The goal is to stay organized and efficient with your schedule.
  • Call on existing account base within your territory to obtain new points of distribution, execute promotional activity, and increase market share
  • Solicit new business to increase volume share within the New York City market
  • Manage weekly sales orders and communication with the Torch Distribution team
  • Execute events and promotions to deliver greater brand awareness and stimulate sales for brands in our portfolio.
  • Conduct staff educations, beer tastings, and other events as needed/requested
  • Be your territory’s resident beer expert. We want to provide NYC’s best customer service, knowledge, and overall account value to make our portfolio a mainstay within the city. We don’t want a typical hard sales approach; we want to become a trusted partner to all our retail customers. This means you’re detail-oriented, you always do what you say you’re going to do, and most of all, you’re a good listener.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 2-3 years relevant sales/account management experience within craft beverage industry
  • Digitally proficient and capable of learning in-house CRM and sales management software as needed
  • Knowledge of beer styles, brewing, and industry trends
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of and experience with Encompass is a plus
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required
  • Ability to handle long periods of standing/walking, ability to lift 20-50 lbs without assistance, comfort moving full kegs (165lbs) as needed
