Job Summary:
As a seasoned brewer, a Level 3 Brewer possesses extensive experience and demonstrated seniority within a high-paced, large-volume production brewery. Success in this advanced role is driven by a strong sense of ownership, confidence in creatively troubleshooting complex issues, and the ability to independently make strategic adjustments based on a deep understanding of brewing science and past experiences at Melvin. A passion for continuous improvement, a knack for process optimization, and the ability to provide clear direction while collaborating seamlessly with senior management and other brewing team members are paramount. Level 3 Brewers are pivotal in leading problem-solving initiatives, innovating brewing processes, and mentoring junior staff, representing a significant opportunity for highly experienced brewers to shape the future of a growing brewery.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all SOPs and safety protocols provided, reacting appropriately when limits are exceeded, and escalating issues or concerns to supervisors.
- Perform CIP (Clean in Place) of brewing vessels, tanks, process lines, fermenters, centrifuge, etc..
- Assemble and disassemble process lines and loops.
- Prepare and utilize chemicals safely.
- Rotate and stage raw materials for upcoming brewing operations.
- Perform daily and weekly cleaning regimens assigned by senior brewing staff.
- Manage cellar including yeast pitching, daily fermentation tracking, dry-hopping, and fermenter additions.
- Uphold and advance quality standards.
- Consistently and accurately collect and evaluate data for essential brewing metrics.
- Accurately complete all checklists.
- Promote and protect the brand of Pure Madness Brewery Group.
- Assist with all aspects of the brewing process, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, fermentation, and cellaring.
- Clean and sanitize brewing equipment and work areas, adhering to strict sanitation protocols.
- Monitor fermentation and perform necessary tasks such as dry-hopping, yeast pitching, and transfers.
- Accurately record and maintain brewing logs and data.
- Assist with beer analysis and quality control.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
- Attend monthly safety meetings.
- Follow SOPs for chemical use and mechanical equipment operation.
- Alert leadership of any workplace safety concerns.
- Clock in and out for all shifts and request PTO for approval through the payroll portal.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of packaging logs, production brewing logs, and pub and eatery logs/packaging.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in a production brewery
- Ability to lift 50 lbs safely.
- Ability to stand and perform repetitive motions for long periods.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Positive communication skills.
- Strong understanding of how to operate safely and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ability to keep meticulous digital records via daily data entry.
- Positive, get-it-done attitude and a passion for beer.
